Rachel + Lam Engagement Ceremony

This past Saturday was Rachel and Lam's Engagement Ceremony. It was our first Vietnamese traditional ceremony since March. Needless to say, we were very excited about it! As always, the bride-to-be waits anxiously in her room while the groom-to-be brings his entire family over with gifts to "ask for permission". When everybody is settled and all the gifts are presented, the mother of the bride escorts the lovely bride-to-be out of her room to start the ceremony. What a moment!! I love these ceremonies. They are action packed and full of rich colors, a wedding photographer's dream come true! Oh...and don't forget about the feast afterwards; it is almost as important as the ceremony itself!

Thanks for the wonderful experience Rachel and Lam. Can't wait to see you again when we do the engagement session!

Rachel's parents owns a beautiful house! Look at all that landscaping work...we are very impressed!

"Double Happiness" was everywhere!

More "Double Happiness"!

That's our main man!

Not sure what that says besides the "Double Happiness"...but it sure looks happy to me :)

Rachel taking a peek at Lam and his family. Love this shot!!

This is what Lam's family brought. There is that "Double Happiness" again! Oh, and that green lumpy looking thing...is actually one of my favorite fruits. I used to eat that while growing up in Taiwan. Don't even know what it's called in English, but who cares? It looks weird, but it is so unbelievably good!

Rachel is so ready to see Lam!

Paying respect to the ancestors.

Can you believe Rachel's mom made all these?! OMG, it looks better than what they can make in the restaurants. She was so nice and kept telling us to take a break and eat with them!! Too bad we were working. We did take a little break and tried her soup. It was the best soup ever, honestly!!

Yea, they made the cake too!

You can tell Rachel is a big drinker ;)

Cathy + Brad's After-wedding Session

You thought all the fun was over after Cathy and Brad's wedding ended right? Not quite. After the wedding we went over to The Houstonian to have more fun. We jumped on the bed, walked around in the hallway, lounged around in the lobby, even took a ride on the dolly! What a way to end their special day!! Enjoy the pictures!

Cathy + Brad Wedding

08/08/08 is probably the most popular day to get married. I heard during Olympic broadcasting saying that in Beijing alone, there were 60,000 couple registered for their marriage license. That's understandable because "8" in Chinese sounds like the word "To be prosperous". Three times that means you are destined to be filthy rich. This isn't just happening in China though. The Knot recorded that they have 4 times more people registered for the 08/08/08 wedding than any other Fridays in August.

Cathy and Brad had their wedding on 08/09/08. "9" in Chinese also sounds like the word "a long time". To me, they have chosen an even better date. I think we can all agree that it's better to be rich for a long time than to be just filthy rich (and not knowing when the good fortune stops coming :) Anyway, that's just my crazy opinion.

Cathy and Brad had a conventional ceremony, but the reception was very unusual. Take a look at the pictures and slideshow and you'll see. We want to thank everybody for making it such a fun wedding. It was very unique, not to mention the couple, their family and friends were great to work with!

The morning after the wedding Cathy and Brad went straight to their honeymoon. I am sure they are lying on the beach right now and enjoying
the gorgeous scenery and perfect weather in Jamaica! Knowing Cathy though, she is probably still stalking our blog every chance she gets even if she is on her honeymoon :) Enjoy the pictures!

Sandra + Andrew Wedding

Alice and I got to hang out with Sandra and Andrew back in March during their engagement session. They were the nicest people, very easy going and fun to work with. Everything we asked them to do was cool with them :) The pictures turned out amazing because there was so much love and chemistry between them. Ever since the e-session we've been looking forward to shooting their wedding. We knew it is going to be beautiful and exciting just like the two of them! We were not disappointed one bit. The wedding couldn't have been any more perfect. It was truly our pleasure and honor to meet and work with Sandra & Andrew's wonderful family and friends. We really had a good time! Now you get to relive the amazing day by looking at the pictures. Congratulations again!

Andrew had a surprise for everybody. He sang "Everything" to her. I think everybody was pleasantly surprised by how good his voice is.

The gorgeous cake plus breathtaking views!

Partying on the 49th floor...sweet!

All the single ladies put on a veil before lining up for bouquet toss. They kept it on for the rest of the night cuz it was just too cute!
