This past Saturday was Rachel and Lam's Engagement Ceremony. It was our first Vietnamese traditional ceremony since March. Needless to say, we were very excited about it! As always, the bride-to-be waits anxiously in her room while the groom-to-be brings his entire family over with gifts to "ask for permission". When everybody is settled and all the gifts are presented, the mother of the bride escorts the lovely bride-to-be out of her room to start the ceremony. What a moment!! I love these ceremonies. They are action packed and full of rich colors, a wedding photographer's dream come true! Oh...and don't forget about the feast afterwards; it is almost as important as the ceremony itself!
Thanks for the wonderful experience Rachel and Lam. Can't wait to see you again when we do the engagement session!
Rachel's parents owns a beautiful house! Look at all that landscaping work...we are very impressed!

"Double Happiness" was everywhere!

More "Double Happiness"!

That's our main man!

Not sure what that says besides the "Double Happiness"...but it sure looks happy to me :)

Rachel taking a peek at Lam and his family. Love this shot!!

This is what Lam's family brought. There is that "Double Happiness" again! Oh, and that green lumpy looking thing...is actually one of my favorite fruits. I used to eat that while growing up in Taiwan. Don't even know what it's called in English, but who cares? It looks weird, but it is so unbelievably good!

Rachel is so ready to see Lam!

Paying respect to the ancestors.

Can you believe Rachel's mom made all these?! OMG, it looks better than what they can make in the restaurants. She was so nice and kept telling us to take a break and eat with them!! Too bad we were working. We did take a little break and tried her soup. It was the best soup ever, honestly!!

Yea, they made the cake too!

You can tell Rachel is a big drinker ;)
